Many Business Owners Get This Wrong

Service Area, Storefront or Hybrid - Which are you?

August 20, 2021

Many people have asked, “How do I make sure my Google My Business (GMB) is listed correctly on Google for my business type?” when customers come to my office or if I work out of my home and service customers at their location?

What is Google My Business?

Google My Business is the search listings that pop up for local searches on Google such as “[product/service] near me.” This business listing is a crucial tool that potential new customers use to discover your business on Google. The results of this Google search display basic business information including a customer review section complete with star ratings. Because of these star ratings, this is one of the primary places that potential new customers research before making a buying decision. It is paramount that this listing is completely filled out, up-to-date, and has a very good rating.

A common mistake some of our customers make before working with us is incorrectly listing their business. It’s important for your profile to be listed as either a storefront, service area, or hybrid. Here are some differences to help you determine how your business should be listed:

Storefront

A business that operates out of a brick and mortar location and does not go to the customers location. Examples include restaurants, clothing stores, or supply stores.

Service Area

A business that visits or delivers to customers directly, but doesn’t serve customers at their business address. These businesses do not have a physical location, but operate in a certain local service area. For example, businesses like cleaning services or plumbers.

Hybrid

A business that serves customers at their business address, but also directly visits or delivers to customers. For example, a furniture warehouse with a showroom that also delivers products. Hybrid businesses can show their storefront address, set their hours for when they're staffed at that address, and designate a service area.

As you can see, there are a lot of variables and little details that go into correctly listing your business on Google. This is where our team comes into play - Give our Support Team a call at (949) 478-6887 today to discuss how to best list your business on Google.
