When we caught word of COVID-19, we quickly set up operations from home.  We programmed WiFi phones, shipped computers, chairs, desks and electronic equipment and began to go “back to work”.  Frankly, at first it was weird.  We stumbled around, but since we are a technology company, we immediately tried all the technology available; direct chats, Discord group chat, Zoom meetings, conference calls, text and direct calls.  Before too long, things fell into place.

Despite many of our customers putting their marketing on hold due to closures, we rapidly increased sales, and settled in for the long haul.  So, with almost 5 months under our belts, here’s what we learned:

  • We have daily 30 minute meetings for sales (conference calls) and support (Discord group chat)
  • We require that everyone write down issues that need to be resolved
  • We require that everyone write down their goals as to how they will bring in new business
  • We communicate one-on-one throughout the day with Trillian chat

By creating structure and focusing on written goals, we have created a smooth daily process, which has proven to be more effective than with an office.

Special note: In a study done by Harvard University, they surveyed a class of students questioning them, who had goals (13%) and who didn’t (84%) as well has who had goals and wrote them down (3%).  Ten years later, they surveyed this group and the group who had goals and had written them down were, 10x richer

In summary, things are running much better without an office than with an office.  We speak to 100’s of businesses every day.  Most of our attorney’s prefer to work from home using Zoom meetings instead of going to the office.  And many other businesses as well.  Google and Facebook have both stated that their employees will work from home until July 2021!  We intend to follow along.
