On March 20, Google announced that it was temporarily disabling or limiting a number of features in Google My Business, saying:

“During the unprecedented Virus situation, we are taking steps to protect the health of our team members and reduce the need for people to come into our offices. As a result, there may be some temporary limitations and delays in support as we prioritize critical services.”

  • On March 25, a ‘Temporarily Closed’ option was added to Google My Business for businesses that are closed as a result of the virus.
  • On March 31, Google Posts, which were temporarily disabled, returned.
  • On April 7th, the ability to recieve and reply to reviews was temporarily disabled. This has since returned.

As things settle out, your potential new customers are now most interested in what times you are open and what precautions are you taking.  Below is an actual post from one of our customers.

For our customers who have to be onsite, we stress adding CDC safety procedures in your advertising such as; gloves, face masks, disinfectanting and distancing.
