We’ve written about this before, but it’s so important that we have returned to this subject, which is how you can improve your sales (after we've sent you the phone call) by improving your employee’s phone techniques. It’s extremely important to extend courtesy to your potential new customers, to let them know that you care. Studies show that when you are speaking to customers over the phone that 82% of their impression of the call is based on non-words, like tonality, courtesy (are you over talking them), pauses after you or they speak (extending them the courtesy to speak), etc. These techniques take a lot of practice, but the best way to improve your employees’ phone techniques quickly and effectively is to have them listen to their own calls.
The late Stan Billue, considered one of the top sales trainers along with the likes of Mike Brooks, Brian Tracy and Zig Ziglar stated, “You can double or triple your sales in 90 days by listening to your own phone calls”. Many sales people have tested this idea and nearly all agree this works! If your employees spend 30-60 minutes of quality time listening to their calls each day, they will be able to “hear” their customer’s response to the call and catch the many things they are doing right or wrong.
